Talent Overview
Normal Attack
Normal Attack
Calls upon secret arts passed down through the Masters of the Night-Wind from generation to generation, performing up to three strikes that deal Cryo DMG.
Charged Attack
Enters Aiming Mode, and after Holding, consumes a certain amount of Stamina to call forth a Frost Star that deals Cryo DMG to opponents in its path.
Plunging Attack
Gathers the power of Cryo and plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in her path. Deals AoE Cryo DMG upon impact with the ground.

Citlali’s normal attacks have pretty pitiful multipliers. Combined with her terrible base attack, her normal attacks have negligible damage.
Elemental Skill
Invoking secret pacts passed down by her tribe over the millennia, Citlali deploys an Opal Shield and calls forth “Obsidian Tzitzimitl: Itzpapa,” a creature that is (reputedly) terrifying beyond compare, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Cryo DMG.
The Opal Shield’s DMG absorption scales based on Citlali’s Elemental Mastery, and absorbs Cryo DMG with 250% efficiency. When it is deployed, it will cause Citlali to briefly be affected by Cryo.
After using this skill, Citlali gains 24 Nightsoul points and enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
Nightsoul’s Blessing: Citlali
When Itzpapa leaves the field, Citlali exits the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
Itzpapa
- Itzpapa will follow the character.
- If Citlali has at least 50 Nightsoul points, Itzpapa enters the Opal Fire state and continuously consumes Nightsoul points to whip up a Frostfall Storm that follows the character around and attacks opponents within its AoE, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Cryo DMG.
- When Citlali’s Nightsoul points are fully depleted, Itzpapa’s Opal Fire state also ends.

With her elemental skill, Citlali summons a shield and Itzpapa. Furthermore, she will also gain 24 Nightsoul points. If Citlali has at least 50 Nightsoul points, Itzpapa will transform into the Opal Fire state (“Angry Itzpapa”) and deal Cryo DMG to apply Cryo to nearby enemies within a certain range.

Elemental Burst
Summons “allies” from the starry skies and the vast earth, hurling forth an ice storm to bombard the area in front and deal Nightsoul-aligned AoE Cryo DMG. This restores a set amount of Nightsoul points for Citlali, and also summons a Spiritvessel Skull near a maximum of 3 opponents within the AoE, with 1 Skull for each opponent. Spiritvessel Skulls explode after some time, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Cryo DMG and restoring a set amount of Nightsoul points for Citlali.

The main function of Citlali’s burst is to give her Nightsoul points to allow Itzpapa to become Angry Itzpapa and periodically apply Cryo. Though it can deal a respectable amount of damage, its main function is to restore Citlali’s Nightsoul points.
Ascension 1 Passive
While Itzpapa is on the field, after nearby party members trigger the Frozen or Melt reactions, the Pyro and Hydro RES of opponents affected by that reaction decreases by 20% for 12s.
Additionally, Citlali will regain 16 Nightsoul points. Nightsoul can be restored this way once every 8s.
A very important and useful ascension talent for Citlali. She gives a very useful 20% RES Shred, which is half of Viridescent Venerer and slightly more than half of Xilonen’s RES% Shred. Furthermore, as the Nightsoul point gain from her Elemental Skill and Burst isn’t enough (24 + 24 = 48 < 50), the 16 extra Nightsoul points allow Itzpapa to immediately become Angry Itzpapa. The Nightsoul point gain also allows her to maintain Itzpapa to stay in Angry Itzpapa more consistently.
Ascension 4 Passive
During the Elemental Skill Dawnfrost Darkstar, Itzpapa’s Frostfall Storm DMG is increased by 90% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery. During the Elemental Burst Edict of Entwined Splendor, Ice Storm DMG is increased by 1200% of Citlali’s Elemental Mastery.
In addition, when nearby party members trigger Nightsoul Bursts, Citlali regains 4 Nightsoul points.
This ascension passive gives Citlali slightly more personal damage. It also gives her another method to restore Nightsoul points, which can be especially nice the more Natlan teammates there are. With 3 Natlan teammates, it will restore around 8 Nightsoul points every rotation.
Night Realm’s Gift Passive
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, can use Nightsoul Transmission: Citlali. When the active character is currently high enough in the air, the following will trigger when switching to Citlali: Citlali will leap up high, and will deploy “White Obsidian Tzitzimitl: Citlalin” to float in the air. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your party.
Holding Aiming Mode will cause Citlali to enter the “Spiritspeaker” state, which will allow her to interact with “Nightspirit Graffiti” and “Nightspirit Sigils,” extracting information and power from them. The rules for interacting with these objects follow the same rules as those governing Iktomisaurus interactions.
Additionally, holding the jump button will cause Citlali to consume 75 Stamina and leap. In areas within Natlan where Phlogiston mechanics are present, Citlali will prioritize consuming 5 Phlogiston to leap to a height higher still.
When in the air, Citlali can Hold her Normal Attack to consume Phlogiston or Stamina and enter Aiming Mode and trigger Charged Attacks. When initiating Charged Attacks in mid-air, Citlali will prioritize consuming 20 Phlogiston.
This talent is not exactly very useful in combat, as all it really does is allow her to leap very high. However, it can be situationally useful against enemies with Plunge attack mechanics if you don’t have Xianyun or a plunge character (e.g., Varesa, Xiao).
Talent Priority
E >> Q >> NA
Citlali’s talent levels are not exactly very important for her utility or general team damage. However, you can opt to level her elemental skill to make her shield stronger for more comfort.
Constellations
Descriptions are condensed. Good constellations are given a ⭐.
| C1 | Gives 10 quills that deal 200% for Citlali’s EM as damage. When Melt or Freeze is triggered, give 3 more quills. | While it sounds nice, 200% of Citlali’s EM is simply not high enough to justify a whole 5* pull |
| C2⭐ | 250 EM to the active character and an extra 20% RES Shred | Perhaps the best constellation in the game. It gives a sands and a third of EM, as well as increasing her RES% Shred to the level of VV. This constellation is perhaps worth 3 constellations. |
| C3 | Increase E by 3 levels | Not exactly a super good constellation |
| C4 | When Angry Itzpapa deals damage, an additional 1600% DMG is dealt and Citlali restores 16 Nightsoul points and 8 energy. | A nice constellation for QOL, as it greatly increases her Cryo application. However, the damage increase is not as high. |
| C5 | Increase Q by 3 levels | Not exactly a super good constellation. |
| C6⭐ | Itzpapa will always be Angry Itzpapa. When Nightsoul points are consumed, all characters will gain a certain Pyro DMG% Bonus and Hydro DMG% Bonus up to 60% and 100%, respectively. | This constellation removes the need for Citlali to burst. Furthermore, it also essentially provides a C0 Furina level of DMG% Bonus to all characters that are Pyro or Hydro. |
Combos
| EQ N1 | A standard combo for Citlali to funnel energy to herself and give herself enough Nightsoul points. The N1 at the end ensures that the first hit after switching is a melt.1 |
| QE N1 | A combo for Citlali if you want to use her burst first. The N1 still ensures that Cryo is applied and that she gets her own particles. |
| EQ | A good combo if the N1 is not needed |
| QE | A good combo if her particles are not needed |
Weapons
![]() Starcaller’s Watch | Starcaller’s Watch is Citlali’s signature weapon. It provides her with a lot of EM for shield strength, and its passive provides the active character with 28% DMG Bonus. |
![]() Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers | Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers is an easily-accessible 3* weapon that gives the on-fielder 40% more attack (assuming you are playing correctly). Since this weapon is so easy to get, you generally shouldn’t use a weapon worse than this. |
![]() Sacrificial Fragments | Sacrificial Fragments is an option that’s great for comfort. It gives Citlali much more shield strength as well as two skill casts to immediately fill her Nightsoul points without using her burst (not like you won’t get your burst back anyway with the extra particles). While it does lose out on the 40% ATK from the buff from TTDS, this weapon can be a decent choice if the main damage dealer in the team doesn’t scale off of attack. |
Energy Recharge Requirement
| C0-C3 | C4 | |
| Solo Cryo | ~200+ | ~160 |
| Double Cryo | ~170 | ~140 |
| Double Natlan | ~150 | ~125 |
Favonius procs from teammates reduce energy recharge requirements by ~10% each.
Artifacts
Artifact Sets
![]() Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City | Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City is Citlali’s best artifact set. Since Citlali is a Natlan unit, it allows her to give all characters a 40% DMG Bonus as long as they are of the right element (if you are playing a proper team, it will feel like all characters get 40% DMG Bonus since your main damage dealer should be of the element Citlali reacts with). |
![]() Noblesse Oblige | Citlali can consistently trigger Noblesse to give all units a 20% ATK Bonus if another Natlan unit is holding Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, or units want ATK% but not DMG% Bonus. It also gives a buff to her burst damage if you are nitpicking damage. |
![]() Tenacity of the Millelith | Citlali can consistently trigger Tenacity of the Millelith to give all units a 20% ATK Bonus if another Natlan unit is holding Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, or units want ATK% but not DMG% Bonus. |
![]() Instructors | Citlali can equip Instructors in a Melt team, and there is another Natlan unit that equips theScroll of the Hero of Cinder City. However, it is a 4* set that will give fewer stats to Citlali. |
As Citlali is a support who doesn’t exactly care too much about artifact quality, using a 4pc set should be the priority.

Teambuilding
Citlali is an extremely flexible unit that can accommodate many different teambuilding archetypes and teammates.
Notable Teammates
Pyro
Citlali’s ability to enable forward melt and her decent RES% Shred makes her uniquely situated to be a potential best-in-slot support for Pyro teammates.
Mavuika | Mavuika is the best Pyro DPS in the game who works perfectly well with Citlali in forward melt combos. She is able to melt a lot of her damage, and she is also a Natlan unit, meaning Citlali will get more Nightsoul points. |
Arlecchino | Arlecchino is a great Pyro DPS who works extremely well in Melt. While her Pyro application makes her harder to play, she can take great advantage of Citlali’s Cryo application and RES% Shred. |
Gaming | Gaming is a good Pyro DPS who has a low rate of Pyro application, meaning he can take almost full advantage of Citlali’s application to melt most of his damage. |
Durin | Durin can play as an on-field main DPS, and Citlali’s Cryo application allows him to trigger forward melt relatively consistently on his burst. |
Hydro
Citlali’s ability to hold Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City and her Hydro RES% Shred allows her to be a great teammate for Hydro characters.
Neuvillette | Neuvillette is a flexible Hydro DPS who can take great advantage of Citlali’s Scroll buffs and Hydro RES% Shred. Citlali also provides a shield for interruption resistance, which is a great QOL improvement for C0 Neuvillette. |
Furina | Furina can provide the team with a massive amount of DMG% Bonus, which is generally valuable in the teams Citlali is played in. Furina’s own sub DPS is also boosted by Citlali’s RES% Shred. |
Yelan | Yelan’s sub DPS benefits from Citlali’s RES% Shred. |
Cryo
While Citlali herself doesn’t buff Cryo directly, Cryo units can synergize decently with her.
Escoffier | Escoffier massively buffs Freeze-based teams, making her a good teammate when Citlali is played for her utility with Hydro units. Her RES% Shred pairs well with Citlali’s ability to equip Scroll for a DMG% Boost. Furthermore, she also applies as much single-target Cryo as Citlali, making her an acceptable option to make playing melt teams easier. |
Skirk | While it is hard for Citlali to use Scroll in Skirk teams, Citlali can equip another supportive set (such as Noblesse). Additionally, Citlali’s shield allows Skirk to use Calamity of Eshu in her normal attack-based playstyle. |
Anemo
Anemo units can use VV and trigger Swirl to further reduce enemy RES%
Chasca | While Chasca is an Anemo DPS de jure, she deals damage of the element of her teammates. Therefore, she can use Hydro and Pyro teammates to Melt or Vaporize her damage. Since Citlali shreds Hydro and Pyro RES%, she is a great support for Chasca. Furthermore, she also enables more forward melts. |
Kaedehara Kazuha | Kazuha has great VV uptime for RES% Shred as well as a DMG% Bonus within his kit, which synergizes extremely well with Citlali. |
Sucrose | Sucrose is also a great holder of VV. Furthermore, she has a teamwide EM share, which can be extremely useful in Melt teams. Since she is also a catalyst user, she can equip TTDS and allow Citlali to equip a more comfortable weapon like Sacrificial Fragments. |
Other
Other units also have good synergy with Citlali and supportive capability.
Xilonen | Xilonen also has RES% Shred that allows her to synergize well in a lot of Citlali’s teams. However, this does mean that one of Xilonen or Citlali cannot equip Scroll and must equip a substitute artifact set.2 Still, Xilonen is also a Natlan unit and helps trigger Nightsoul Bursts |
Example Teams
Mavuika/Citlali/Bennett/Xilonen One of Citlali’s highest damaging teams. Mavuika is able to take great advantage of Citlali’s Cryo application to melt a lot of her damage. Furthermore, Citlali and Xilonen recharge Mavuika’s burst extremely quickly. |
Neuvillette/Furina/Citlali/Escoffier One of Citlali’s best Freeze-based teams. Citlali’s Hydro RES% Shred and buffs to Cryo DMG% and Hydro DMG% with Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City are greatly appreciated in this team. Furthermore, she also gives Neuvillette a nice shield that he greatly appreciates at C0. |
Arlecchino/Citlali/Bennett/Escoffier A double Cryo Melt team with Citlali. While Citlali’s Cryo application is theoretically enough to melt a good amount, adding a second Cryo character (most notably Escoffier) enables more comfortable gameplay or additional melts for a character like Arlecchino. |
Chasca/Furina/Bennett/Citlali Due to how Chasca works, a lot of the damage she deals in this team will be either Pyro or Hydro. Therefore, Citlali’s RES% Shred is very valuable in this team. Furthermore, her shield is also very nice to help with Chasca’s interruption resistance against heavier hits. |
Furina/Citlali/Escoffier A 3-character core that is insanely great for Cryo or Hydro DPSes. Furina and Escoffier synergize well to give the whole team DMG% Bonuses and RES% Shred, while Citlali provides extra RES% Shred and DMG% Bonus through Scroll. |
Gaming/Citlali/Bennett/Sucrose A good F2P-accessible team for Citlali. She enables lots of melts for Gaming through her Cryo application, while Bennett and Sucrose provide lots of additional buffs and RES% Shred. |
