Talent Overview

Normal Attack

Normal Attack
Performs up to 4 consecutive shots with a bow.

Charged Attack
Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG.
While aiming, flowing water will accumulate on the arrowhead. A fully charged torrential arrow will deal Hydro DMG.

Breakthrough
Yelan will enter a “Breakthrough” state after spending 5s out of combat, which will cause her next Charged Aimed Shot to have 80% decreased charge time, and once charged, she can fire a “Breakthrough Barb” that will deal AoE Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP.

Plunging Attack
Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Yelan’s normal attack, while it does have some interesting mechanics with the breakthrough state, is not particularly useful in most combat situations. It is generally not used before C6.

Elemental Skill

Fires off a Lifeline that allows her to move rapidly, entangling and marking opponents along its path.
When this rapid movement ends, the Lifeline will explode, dealing Hydro DMG to the marked opponents based on Yelan’s Max HP
.

Tap
Moves a certain distance forward swiftly.

Hold
Engages in continuous, swift movement, during which Yelan’s resistance to interruption is increased.
During this time, Yelan can control this rapid movement and end it by using this Skill again.

Additionally, each opponent marked by the Lifeline when it explodes grants Yelan a 34% chance to reset her Breakthrough state.

Yelan’s elemental skill has a decent potential for nuking and showcasing. However, it is not a major source of her damage and is generally only used for energy generation.

Elemental Burst

Deals AoE Hydro DMG and creates an “Exquisite Throw,” which aids her in battle.

Exquisite Throw
Follows the character around and will initiate a coordinated attack under the following circumstances, dealing Hydro DMG based on Yelan’s Max HP:

  • Can occur once every second when your active character uses a Normal Attack.
  • Will occur each time Yelan’s Lifeline explodes and hits opponents.

Yelan’s elemental burst is the primary source of her damage. It summons an “Exquisite Throw” (which will be referred to here as a “dice”) that will follow the active character. Whenever the active character uses a normal attack, the dice will also use a coordinated attack that deals Hydro damage.

Multipliers

Lvl 1Lvl 6Lvl 9Lvl 10
Exquisite Throw DMG% (Max HP)4.87% x 36.82% x 38.28% x 38.77% x 3

Ascension 1 Passive

When the party has 1/2/3/4 Elemental Types, Yelan’s Max HP is increased by 6%/12%/18%/30%.

A nice passive that gives free stats.

Ascension 4 Passive

So long as an Exquisite Throw is in play, your own active character deals 1% more DMG. This increases by a further 3.5% DMG every second. The maximum increase to DMG dealt is 50%.
The pre-existing effect will be dispelled if Depth-Clarion Dice is recast during its duration.

This passive gives a linearly increasing DMG% Bonus to the active character. In most rotations, you will be able to hit the 50% damage bonus after 14 seconds while Yelan’s burst cooldown is 18 seconds.

Constellations

Descriptions are condensed. Good constellations are given a ⭐.

C1⭐Extra skill castThis constellation greatly decreases her energy requirements and allows her to run more offensive artifacts or weapon choices.
C2⭐Yelan’s dice will fire an extra coordinated attack once every 1.8 secondsThis constellation greatly increases Yelan’s sub DPS potential and makes her the best Hydro applicator in terms of rate in the game.
C3Increase Q by 3 levelsNot exactly a super good constellation
C4For every opponent hit by her E, all party members’ Max HP increases by 10% up to 40%While it seems like a good stat buffer, it is relatively underwhelming since you don’t run around with Yelan’s skill much; it is also pretty bad in single-target scenarios
C5Increase E by 3 levelsNot exactly a super good constellation.
C6⭐After using her elemental burst, Yelan will be able to fire 5 Breakthrough Barbs that deal over 50% more damage than normalFor an older character, Yelan’s C6 is extremely powerful and turns her into an extremely potent main DPS

Combos

Weapons

Favonius Warbow
Generally, this is the weapon you want to run on a C0 Yelan. It provides her with a lot of ER and white particles to make her energy needs manageable.

Aqua Simulacra
Yelan’s signature weapon. It gives her tons of CRIT DMG, some HP%, and a nice amount of DMG% Bonus, though it doesn’t help with her energy.

Elegy for the End
While it doesn’t directly give as many stats to Yelan as other weapons, Elegy for the End is a great option in teams where the main DPS scales off of EM and/or ATK.

Hunter’s Path
Hunter’s Path provides a massive amount of CRIT Rate. If you decide to use a charged attack, the weapon will also give you some DMG% Bonus.

Golden Frostbound Oath
88 CV statstick

Slingshot
This 3-star weapon actually provides 62.4 CV, which puts it on par with most 5-star weapons in terms of stats.

Artifacts

Artifact Sets

Emblem of Severed Fate
As a sub DPS whose damage is practically all concentrated in her burst, Yelan’s best artifact set for her damage is Emblem since it gives a huge buff to burst damage (50% if you have 200% ER). It also gives her 20% ER to help with energy.

Nymph’s Dream
Nymph’s Dream is a decent option and a substitute (albeit noticeably worse) for Emblem of Severed Fate. While the ATK% it gives is useless, it gives a nice amount of DMG% Bonus. Still, it is worse than Emblem and much less resin-efficient.

2pc/2pc sets
Since the 4pc bonus from Nymph’s Dream is equal to its 2pc bonus (for Yelan at least), 2pc/2pc sets perform similarly to it.

Noblesse Oblige
Noblesse Oblige is a good option for Yelan for a more support-focused build. While the burst damage buff is only 20% compared to Emblem’s minimum of 30%, this allows the active character to gain 20% ATK. This is generally the most used set in Skirk teams.

Dendro Traveler
Dendro Traveler has a decent amount of off-field Dendro application, which Yelan can take advantage of

Al Haitham
Al Haitham and Yelan have decent synergy in Quickbloom teams, especially since Al Haitham can take advantage of Yelan’s A4. Furthermore, Yelan’s Hydro application being ever-so-slightly slower than Xingqiu’s means that Al Haitham will trigger Quicken more often.

Cryo

Yelan can synergize well with Cryo teammates in Freeze-based team compositions

Escoffier
Since Escoffier provides 55% Hydro RES Shred, she is excellent for Yelan’s sub DPS. Furthermore, Yelan fits Escoffier Hydro/Cryo-only passive, meaning they are great teammates.

Kaedehara Kazuha
Kazuha is a great VV enabler who has great crowd control. Additionally, he gives the whole team DMG% Bonus, which Yelan can take great advantage of.

Sucrose
Sucrose is also a great VV enabler to trigger swirl. While she doesn’t give much DMG% Bonus, she is a great on-field driver and can enable Hexerei resonance.

Wanderer
Wanderer is an Anemo DPS who uses lots of normal attacks, so he can enable lots of Yelan’s sub DPS.

Lynette

Example Teams

Hu Tao/Furina/Yelan/Xilonen

Furina EDQ > Yelan EQ > Xilonen EQ N2 > Hu Tao combo

A premiere Vaporize team for Yelan. Her Hydro application (as well as Furina’s) enables Hu Tao to consistently trigger Vaporize. Additionally, Yelan and Furina’s DMG% Bonuses benefit the damage of the whole team. Xilonen also provides valuable healing and RES% Shred. Finally, the Furina/Yelan duo enables Hydro resonance, which helps all three damage dealers.

Skirk/Furina/Escoffier/Yelan

Furina EDQ > Escoffier EQ > Yelan EQ > Skirk combo

A premiere Freeze team for Yelan. Escoffier provides a huge amount of RES% Shred for all teammates, as well as providing healing for Furina’s fanfare. Yelan also has decent sub DPS and can equip supportive sets to buff Skirk’s damage. Furina and Yelan also give each other Hydro resonance and reduce each other’s ER requirements.

Arlecchino/Yelan/Bennett/Xilonen

Yelan EQ > Bennett EQ > Xilonen EQ N2 > Arlecchino combo

A great Vaporize team for Yelan. Arlecchino’s normal attack-based playstyle allows Yelan by herself to provide enough Hydro application for Arlecchino to consistently trigger Vaporize, while Xilonen reduces enemies’ Hydro and Pyro RES%.

Yoimiya/Columbina/Yelan/Ineffa

Columbina EQ > Yelan EQ > Ineffa EQ > Yoimiya combo

A nice Overvape team for Yelan. Since the Lunar-Charged aura is consistently maintained, the Pyro DPS can consistently trigger Vaporize while Ineffa and Columbina deal out their sub DPS.

Navia/Furina/Yelan/Xilonen

Furina EQ > Yelan EQ > Navia Q > 2(Xilonen EQ N2 > Navia E 2(N2D))

A nice Crystallized-based team for Yelan. Yelan has great Hydro application to consistently enable Crystallize every second, and Furina provides Hydro resonance and a massive DMG% Bonus. Furthermore, Xilonen provides Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City and RES% Shred for both Hydro and Geo.

Xingqiu/Yelan/Lauma/Kuki Shinobu

A low-cost Hyperbloom team for Yelan. Lauma has great Dendro application and Hydro and Dendro RES% Shred to increase Yelan’s sub DPS and Hyperbloom damage. Yelan and Xingqiu also greatly help each other’s energy and enable Hydro resonance. Its quickswap nature helps even more with energy

Xingqiu/Yelan

A great and F2P-friendly double-Hydro core that allows for practically permanent Hydro uptime on enemies, which is very useful for Vaporize teams in particular.

Xingqiu/Yelan/Fischl/Sucrose

A great 4* only team for Yelan. Sucrose is a great driver for Electro-charged, and she can also enable Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers for Fischl. Xingqiu and Yelan also greatly reduce each other’s energy requirements, and the quickswap nature of this team means that Yelan can cast her skill multiple times per rotation.
