After making your way through Raccoon City, Leon arrives at the hidden Umbrella facility. Head toward the main gate and pull the lever. After that a short cutscene plays as the facility doors open and Leon steps inside.
The Facility Entrance
In the first room, check the right side to collect some Scrap (close to the blue barrels). There’s nothing else here, so take a left and pass through the decontamination room. Once you come out the other side, the path splits in two.
Take the left path first into the office room. As soon as you enter, look to the left beside the microscope to find a Med Kit containing a Med Injector. Save your progress on the screen to the left of the door, then check the Supply Box directly in front of the entrance to restock ammo or upgrade your weapon if needed. In the right corner of the room, break the barrel to collect Machine Gun Ammo. Also interact with the screen along the right wall to read the N0-AH Status Report file.
Head back to where the path split and take the right path this time. Look behind the equipment in this area to find a Mr. Raccoon Bobblehead sitting on top of a green box.
The Server Room
Go down the stairs. You’ll see two doors – one on the left that’s locked and one directly ahead. Go through the one ahead to enter the server room. Follow the left wall first to collect a Green Herb and break a crate on top of a table to find Machine Gun Ammo. On a shelf along the right wall, you’ll find Gunpowder (Large). There’s nothing else in this room, so head through the door on the far wall.
Inside the surveillance room, check the left side to find a Rare Tracking Module. Then interact with the terminal in front of you. Once you interact with the terminal, a short cutscene plays. Leon spots Grace’s location on the monitors before realizing he’s about to be ambushed by facility guards.
Clearing the Guards
After the cutscene, head back into the server room where the guards will be waiting. They’re straightforward to deal with. Take them down one by one and collect the Machine Gun Ammo each one drops. Once all the guards are down, head back toward the stairs you came down earlier. The door that was locked before is now open. Go through it into the newly accessible section of the facility.
The Licker Encounter
This area is busy as there are a large number of guards patrolling. Once you enter this area, be careful and keep moving straight. You will spot a crate, break it to get Handgun Ammo. On the right, you will notice a ladder; use it to get to the upper platform. Use this platform as cover and get to the far end of the room. You will spot a Chamber with red lights, fire on it to free the Licker. After it is free, let the Licker do some of the work for you, as it will engage the guards on its own. Once the guards are thinned out, jump down and take out the Licker yourself.
A second wave of guards will then arrive. This group is tougher than the previous one, as one of them carries a shield. Use the gas cylinders around the area to disrupt their formation and break their shield guard, then work around them and finish them off. With the entire group eliminated, collect all the loose ammo they drop and break the crates in the corners of the room for additional supplies. Once you are done collecting everything go through the door on right corner of the room.
Approaching the ARK
The path splits again here. Take the left path first and head up the stairs to the supply crate at the top. Save your progress, then head back down and continue east. At the end of the hall, collect the Gunpowder (Large), then take a left into the ARK’s main entrance hall.
The hall is lined with some beautiful statues, but there’s nothing to collect, so head straight up the stairs and take a right into the adjacent room. Break the crates inside and pick up several files from around the room: Raccoon City Bioweapons Research Report, Product Catalog 1 (2026), and Product Catalog 2 (2026). Save your progress and restock before continuing, as a boss fight is coming up. When you’re ready, go through the main door.
Boss Fight: The Commander
The Commander is the head of Umbrella’s security forces. Shooting him will have absolutely no effect, so don’t waste a single bullet here. The only way to damage him is through parrying. Every time you successfully parry one of his attacks, follow up immediately with a Hatchet strike. Be careful, though, as you are not the only one with the skills to perform a parry; the Commander can parry your attacks as well, so only strike after a clean parry and don’t get greedy. Keep your timing sharp, stay patient, and repeat this pattern until he goes down.
After defeating the Commander, you’ll receive his weapon, the Mortal Edge. Break the barrel in the area to collect a Med Injector, then head through the door and follow the stairs all the way to the top. Take a left at the top, and a cutscene will play where Leon finds Zeno and Grace mid-conversation.
