This guide will walk you through all of Chapter 3, but in a way that respects your time. I will be brief on the obvious points of the mission that are hard to miss, but will expand on the more necessary portions. The game divides this chapter into 3 parts, so I will section each portion out in case you need to skip to a certain point. Ensure the mission is actively tracked in your quests so markers display correctly.

Part 1: Homestead
The chapter kicks off immediately following the events of Chapter 2. Head back to Hernand (or teleport) to look into the rumor of a Greymane. The marked area leads you to Marius, who trades information with you about the story.

After your chat, head to see the Marquis about your reward for killing Hornsplitter. He sets you up with a property for you and your fellow Graymanes to gather and shelter. Afterwards, you can ride your horse with the guard who escorts you to your new homestead.

Once there, you are introduced to a new playable character at your disposal, Damiane. She gives you some unique gameplay and quests, but she isn’t needed to continue the story, so we will move on without using her.
Next, you have to take care of some chores to prepare your camp. You can start by moving the 3 sacks. They aren’t marked, but it’s these 3 sacks on the pallet:

Take them one by one to the “marked area”, which means on the ground in front of these shelves:

With that complete, make your way to the wagon. You need to mine the rocks in front of it first using a pickaxe (one is conveniently placed next to the rocks). Equip it and swing at the rocks to mine/break them. This clears the rubble so you can push the wagon into place.

Finally, head over to the tent that needs to be anchored down. There is a table with a mallet on it. Pick it up and equip it like the pickaxe. Aim with L1 and line up your hits with the tent corner and attack to drive it in until the icon turns red. Do this for all 4 corners to move to the final step!

You will be directed to a flag on the side of the road at the entrance. Pick it up using nature’s grasp and bring it to the flag stand. From there, you can place the flag in the hole to secure your camp.

Before this camp is ready, you have to feed everyone. At the marked campfire, grab the paper from the table and read it to learn the “clear soup” recipe. The ingredients for the soup are conveniently placed on the same table. Head to the fire and cook up some clear soup!

– As a side note, you don’t have to cook the hearty or filling soup. Just do 3 of the modest clear soup. You can keep the remaining ingredients to make soup for your own adventures later!

Now that camp is all set up, head back to town and find Marius again. Summon your horse and hop on, then Marius will climb aboard with you. Ride him to the new camp to complete part 1!

Part 2: The Face Behind the Mask
Speak with Marius and get your next mission to check on your fellow Greymanes. You will make your way to Glenbright Manor at the marked location.

Upon arriving, you have to fight off an ambush. Then, you need to investigate the area to see what’s going on. If you feel like exploring, you can pillage the mansion freely with nobody around to see you! You might just find some interesting things inside… Once you’re ready, head upstairs and talk to the only living person in the building.

Shine your lantern in the room to find a thin yellow line, representing the path of the Reed Devil. There’s also a memory you can watch while you’re at it. When you’re not exploring the manor, follow the path and jump out of the window.

Keep following the path and fight the enemies along the way. After several small fights, you will find the cabin where the Greymanes are. After a quick cutscene, your mission shifts to hunt down the Reed Devil.

– As a quick tip, the fighting along the way is actually optional! Your goal is simply to get to the reed fields. The boss, despite his health bar, is unbeatable right now. Fight if you want, but you need to make sure you have plenty of food stocked up for the actual boss fight ahead!

Once you arrive at the reed field, there is a small campsite so you can cook and repair your weapons before the fight. When you’re ready, pick up the doll at the marked area, then inspect it to start the fight.

The boss himself isn’t too difficult if you have plenty of food. If you find it hard to do enough damage, leave and go upgrade your gear at a smithy, or find new gear through crafting or missions.

About halfway through the fight, the Reed Devil will become immune to damage. At this point, look at the mini-map and go to the marked totems. You have to destroy all of these to finish the fight. He will be constantly attacking you, so this is where that food stockpile will come in handy. Once you defeat the boss, the part 3 begins.
Part 3: Pioneering
Once the fight is over, you can teleport to your camp (or travel there by any means when you’re ready to continue the story again). This final part is basically a training lesson on how to run your camp going forward. It’s fairly self-explanatory, so I won’t waste your time overcomplicating the mission.

Talk to Marius to learn the whereabouts of more Graymane. Travel to the marked area, which is conveniently next to the merchants’ guild where the Hornsplitter fight was. If you already unlocked the teleporter there, simply use it to warp right to the mission.
Talk to your old comrades and recruit them back to your camp. Then, head right back to camp where you came from.
There is a small wooden shrine at the entrance of your camp. Head to it and interact with the dragon statue to find a letter. Read it to proceed to the next step.

To complete the next mission, first open your map. Filter it to the “factions” tab, and hover over your camp. Press details (triangle) to inspect your camp, then scroll over to the mission list. Assign your two new recruits to the mission and dispatch them to begin.

The mission says it takes 18 hours, but that isn’t in real time. It will actually be closer to 1 and a half to 2 hours in real time to complete. You can take this time to explore or do side missions. If you want to speed up the process, you can sleep in any bed (one is in the camp in your tent) to skip a maximum of 12 hours.
Once the time has passed, you will be notified and can return to camp to find the new changes. Your only remaining task is to join the celebration with your reunited family! You can now move on to chapter 4, but you can repeat the steps in part 3 to continue to expand your camp!
