The Prologue may be short, but there’s far more tucked away in this Lumiere than most players will catch on their first run. Here’s everything you need to know, from navigating the rooftops to tracking down every secret the city has to offer.
Expedition 33 Prologue Lumière Walkthrough
The Gommage
You start as Gustave talking to Maelle. She will offer to take you down to town. Before you follow her, walk over to the nearby bench and pick up the rose sitting on it. After that, follow Maelle across the rooftops. She will show you how to use the grapple, and all you need to do is just aim and press the action button to swing across.

At some point during the rooftop section, Maelle will stop and ask you to fight her. This is the combat tutorial. Go through it, especially if this is your first time playing. It teaches you how the Battle Wheel works, what AP is for, how turns are decided on the Timeline, and how to dodge and parry.
You will also use Gustave’s two main moves here. Lumière Assault is a combo that builds up charge. Overcharge uses all that charge in one big hit. Finishing the tutorial gives you a Colour of Lumina.

After the rooftops, climb down a glowing rope to the streets. You will find the red and white tree Maelle mentioned, and Sophie is standing nearby. Talk to her and Gustave will give her the rose on his own.

Before going to the docks, look around this area first. There is a trash can near the tree you can inspect, and a Chroma x125 sitting next to some boxes on the right side.
On the way to the docks, talk to Tiffanie near the tree. Keep walking until you reach a crowd around a statue. Look to the right of the statue, and there is a Chroma x125 on a stack of wood. Jump up to grab it. On the left side of the statue, there is a piano you can play. Just past the piano, check the pile of old furniture on the ground to find a Colour of Lumina.

To the right of the statue, you’ll spot Chroma x125 resting on a stack of wood. Jump onto it to collect it. To the left of the statue, there’s a playable piano — interact with it for a brief tune. Just past the piano, examine a pile of discarded furniture to find another Colour of Lumina.
Keep going until you see a man in a red suit under the left statue. This is Richard. Talk to him and he will give you a Uniform for Richard’s Son. Hold onto it.
Follow the path until you see a stage with a banner that reads “Rejoignez L’Expedition.” To the left, a woman named Eloise will ask you to destroy a Punching Ball in one hit. Use Lumière Assault to build charge, then use Overcharge to break it in one go. She will give you a Colour of Lumina as a reward.

Behind Eloise is a dead end with a door blocked by suitcases. Listen at the door 33 times. After the 33rd time, the people inside will give you a Colour of Lumina just to get you to leave.

Further along, Sophie will point out Lune playing guitar. Climb the stairs behind Lune to pick up Chroma x125. In front of Lune, there is a painter standing in front of a blank canvas. Do the short dodging mini-game to help him out, and he will give you a Recoat.

Right after the mini-game, look for a trash can with a blue glowing rim. Keep interacting with it until the Trash-can Man shows up and gives you a Chroma Catalyst.
Keep walking until you reach another statue with horses at the base. Go left and grab the Chroma x125 behind the flower counter. Then head toward the stage where kids are dancing. To the right of the stage is a Mime. Go up and interact with it to start a fight.

The Mime puts up a defensive wall and attacks with either a three-hit hand combo or a four-hit hammer swing. You need to break its armor to damage it. Use Lumière Assault to build charge, then hit it with Overcharge to stun it. After that, finish it off with normal attacks. You get a Lumiere Record and the “A Peculiar Encounter” achievement.
After the fight, head to the harbor behind the horse statue. This is the last point where you can go back and grab anything you missed. Once you trigger the Gommage ceremony, there is no turning back.

Festival de L’Expedition
After the cutscene, you arrive at the festival and get your first Festival Token. You will need to collect two more.
Find the boy in the red jacket — Richard’s son. Give him the uniform, and he will hand you the Crimson Uniform. Equip it from the Wardrobe menu. Then turn left and walk to the corner where three boys are standing. Talk to them to get the Expedition Journal.

Find Antoine, the bald man in front of the blue tent. He will ask you three questions. The answers are:
- Expedition Zero
- Abilities you internalize by using a Pictos in battle enough times
Get all three right and he gives you one Festival Token.
Go to the dock and find Maelle. Beat her in a fight to earn the last Festival Token. You can rematch her as many times as you need.

Go back to the festival and visit every tent. Tom gives you a Weird Pictos, Amandine offers a new haircut, and Colette hands over an Old Key.
The Prologue ends quietly, but it sets up a lot of what comes next. With everything collected and the ceremony done, Act 1: Spring Meadows is where the real journey begins.
