Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Monoco’s Station Walkthrough

After defeating Dualliste in the Forgotten Battlefield, your next stop is Monoco’s Station, a hub area connecting the western, southern, and eastern regions of the Continent. Before heading straight there, there’s a good amount to collect across the Continent first.

You return to camp before moving on. Use this time to strengthen your party bonds. Talk to Esquie to raise his Relationship to Level 2, then talk to Sciel and Lune to bring both to Level 1. Have Maelle write in Gustave’s journal to progress that storyline, and visit the Curator to upgrade your Weapons and Lumina levels.

When you’re ready, interact with the campfire and select “Go to sleep.” A short scene plays where Verso’s relationship with Maelle reaches Level 1.

The Continent

You wake up back on the Continent. Monoco’s Station is directly ahead, but explore the surrounding area first, there’s a lot to pick up.

Defeat the enemies right in front of your starting point to get Verso Weapon – Cruleram. Turn right and head east to find a portal on the right leading to Stone Quarry.

Follow the main path north up a hill and look for a small camp on the left with a Colour of Lumina. At the top of the hill is the Frost Évêque world boss, it’s very difficult at this point, so leave it for later.

Head back down toward the beach and kill the enemies there. From the beach, you can swim to two different areas.

Southern beach – decorated with wrecked ships and floating rocks. There’s a Colour of Lumina at the small camp. Enter the Boat Graveyard portal to grab Alicia’s Birthday Party Music Record.

Head back out and defeat the enemy group of Abbest, Ramasseur, and Potier, this rewards you with Weapon – Lighterim (Lv11), Weapon – Ramasson (Lv11), and Weapon – Potierim (Lv11).

Eastern beach – the Grosse Tête world boss is here. Its attacks are easy to parry, but one mistake can wipe you out instantly due to its massive health pool. Leave it for now. Behind the boss is a portal to Coastal Cave, and following the path south reveals crates containing a Colour of Lumina.

Head back to the northern entrance of the Forgotten Battlefield and go west. Follow the left wall to find a Colour of Lumina beside a lamp post. Directly north of it, look behind a trebuchet for another Colour of Lumina.

Return to the lamp post and keep heading west, following the left wall until you find Pecha, a Gestral Merchant selling Plunging Bob and French Bob haircuts for Sciel. There’s also a portal to Painting Workshop II in front of him, worth checking out.

Continue west and defeat the enemies ahead. After the fight, head northeast into the snowy area. Once you’re on snow, go east to find Strabami, a Gestral Merchant near large pots. He sells Lune Haircut – French Bob and Record – Lost Voice.

Directly south of Strabami’s position, look under the two large green trees for a Lost Gestral. After talking to him, head directly east to grab a Colour of Lumina.

That covers everything on the Continent. Head toward the snowy mountain slope to enter Monoco’s Station.

Monoco’s Station

Follow the path from the portal until you reach Expedition Flag: Ice Corridor. Continue through the icy cave into an open area with a station building on the right.

Inside the station, activate Expedition Flag: Monoco’s Station. Look left for a train, go behind it, and follow the path to the end for Chroma x2,180. Continue deeper into the station for a cutscene, then your first boss fight.

Boss: Monoco

This is more of an introduction fight than a real boss encounter. Monoco isn’t especially tough, but he can transform into different Nevrons and use their attacks.

His basic attacks are a single staff swipe and a double staff swing. His most dangerous move is the Relentless Combo, he transforms into a Chalier and unleashes a 6-hit sequence: a horizontal slash, three overhead slams with a pause between the second and third, ending with another horizontal slash. Dodge or counter this carefully. Everything else is straightforward to deal with.

Rewards: Polished Chroma Catalyst x3

After the fight, a cutscene plays, and Noco appears to warn of an approaching Nevron. Before heading out, turn around and go to the end of the platform to grab a Colour of Lumina.

Head past the Expedition Flag and another cutscene triggers, followed by a second boss fight.

Boss: Stalact

Another introduction fight, this one teaching you about Gradient Attacks.

The Stalact has two attacks. The 4-hit combo has it running forward into two headbutt attacks with its horn, then two arm slams. The Earthquake has it raise both arms and slam the ground three times, sending out shockwaves, jump to avoid them, then counter.

Rewards: Polished Chroma Catalyst

Monoco Joins

After the cutscenes, Monoco joins your party, and a tutorial battle begins to teach you how he works.

Monoco’s progression is different from every other character. Instead of a skill tree, he unlocks new skills by defeating specific enemy types with him in the active party. He starts with the Chalier attack from his boss fight and a new Stalact attack.

His core mechanic is the Bestial Wheel, a wheel that rotates clockwise each time he uses an attack. Each position on the wheel is a different Mask (Heavy, Caster, etc.), and having the right Mask active when you use a skill increases its damage or effect.

The number with an arrow next to each skill’s AP cost tells you how many positions the wheel will rotate when you use it.

The tutorial starts with the Heavy Mask active. Stalact Punches deal increased damage under Heavy Mask. Use it to rotate the wheel to the Caster Mask, then experiment from there. If you manage to defeat the Pèlerin during the tutorial, Monoco learns a useful healing skill.

Before Leaving the Station

With Monoco in the party, the station fills up with new NPCs. Talk to everyone before leaving.

Speak with the Grandis on the left side of the station door to access the Grandis Shop. Most items are locked behind a “Complete a Quest” requirement. He gives you your first quest: find Eternal Ice from the Frozen Hearts region. Keep that in mind for later.

Next, find the Grandis Fashionist beside the right train. He runs a poetry quiz for Lune, Sciel, and Maelle, switch to each character to trigger their quiz. Get all three answers right per character to earn their Pure outfits.

Lune’s answers:

  • “Winter winds will whisper, the ending of the tale.”
  • “Death the artist’s final stroke, completing every life.”
  • “Its echoes fade to stillness, our secrets follow after.”

Maelle’s answers:

  • “While shadows fade to silence, gone beyond our sight.”
  • “Death untangles threads, revealing what’s begun.”
  • “Eternity then cradles us, a promise to appease.”

Sciel’s answers:

  • “It meets the sea’s embrace, where sorrow turns to air.”
  • “And death the final chapter, where we shed our tears.”
  • “Its light will softly fade, where weary skies lie.”

After collecting the outfits, head to the back of the station and take the eastern exit. Cross the railway and immediately look left for Journal – Expedition 65. Speak with the Grateful Grandis standing beside it for a Recoat.

Take the nearest portal to exit from the eastern side. If you’ve found four Lost Gestrals, visit camp and talk to Sastro to unlock the Paint Break ability, it destroys those shiny blue Paint Spikes blocking certain areas, opening up more collectibles.

Once everything is done here, your next destination is Old Lumière.
