You’re in the final chapter of Expedition 33. Before doing anything else, equip the Painted Power Pictos you got from defeating the Paintress. This removes the 9,999 damage soft cap per attack, which matters a lot for the fights ahead. Keep it equipped until you’ve learned it as a Lumina. Once you do, all party members can use it passively for just 5 Lumina Points.

When you arrive at the docks, follow them to the end and activate Expedition Flag: Harbour. Beside the nearby staircase, take a quick detour right for a Colour of Lumina.
Go up the stairs, but check the right side at the first landing, there’s a Paint Spike hiding Chroma x4,900. At the top, you reach a courtyard with a fountain. Kill all the patrolling enemies here. The first one you defeat drops Pictos – Shortcut.

Head right from the top of the stairs to see a fight playing out on a platform. Behind it is another Colour of Lumina. On the left side near the stairs: Resplendent Chroma Catalyst. A bit further along the left wall: one more Colour of Lumina.
Leave the harbour and head to the marketplace from the prologue. It’s the same area, but now full of hostile Aberration enemies instead of citizens.

Clear the Aberrations at the entrance and at the far end. Then check the side areas. There’s Chroma x2,450 on the left side of the main market street, and another Chroma x2,450 up the short stairs on the right.

Remember the Trash-Can Man from the prologue hiding in a garbage can? Check that same trash can now. He didn’t make it, but the hiding spot contains a Perfect Chroma Catalyst.

Use the magic rope at the back of the marketplace to reach the rooftops. From up here, go right first to reach the small rooftop garden where the game began during the prologue.
Grab Pictos – Energising Powerful there. Then come back to the magic rope and take the left path. Grapple to the next roof and follow the path to activate Expedition Flag: Central Plaza.
Central Plaza

Drop down from the rooftops via the magic rope. This area introduces Lumière Citizens as a new enemy type. Two groups are here, kill them both for Weapon – Liteso and Weapon – Litheson. Grab the Resplendent Chroma Catalyst just behind the fountain.

From where you dropped down, go left for a Colour of Lumina and right for another Colour of Lumina. Follow the street leading out of the area and defeat the group of enemies on the right to get another Resplendent Chroma Catalyst.

You’ll reach the red and white tree where you met Sophie in the prologue. A Faceless Boy stands here now, talk to him. Grab Pictos – Charging Stun under the tree, and check the gramophone from the prologue for a Resplendent Chroma Catalyst.
Follow the main path and activate Expedition Flag: Shattered Alley.
Shattered Alley

At the first split, take the stairs on the left to find Chroma x2,450 behind some debris. Continue forward, kill the patrolling enemies, and grab the Colour of Lumina just after the next set of stairs.

Keep following the main path until you spot a large monster guarding a bridge in the distance. Don’t approach it yet. Look left for a small side area with a Colour of Lumina guarded by Lumière Citizens. Then check the left side again just before the monster for another Colour of Lumina.
Boss: Chromatic Échassier

A towering four-legged monster that uses its sharp legs like spears. It’s weak to Fire, but there’s an important mechanic to deal with first: the boss has a damage reduction modifier that caps how much you can hurt it.
To remove it, use free aim to shoot and destroy the weak point dangling from its antenna. A few clean hits take it out, after which your attacks can break the damage limit with Painted Power.
Its main attack is the 7-hit Combo. The boss leaps and stabs with its front legs in groups: two 2-hit strikes from each leg, then three final strikes. The timing is consistent, so learn the rhythm.
The Jump Attack is actually easier, a jumping slam followed by a Gradient Attack. Use a Jump Counter, then immediately a Gradient Counter since there’s no delay between the two.
Every attack from this boss inflicts Blight, which reduces your characters’ maximum health with each stack. Use Verso’s Burden skill to pull all debuffs from your allies onto himself, then immediately cleanse with Purification. If Monoco is in your party, you can harvest one of the boss’s legs for a new ability.
Rewards: Pictos – Augmented Counter III + Resplendent Chroma Catalyst x2 + Colour of Lumina x5

Grab the extra Colour of Lumina right after the fight, then use the grapple points to cross the gaps and move on.
Opera House

Head up the slope toward the Opera House. After the slope, look left for a Colour of Lumina behind a white boat. Keep hugging the left wall for Chroma x2,450.

Before entering the building, check the right side of the outdoor section for a ledge. Head there and interact at the edge of the platform. Choose “Ask Esquie to bring it to the surface” to retrieve Journal – Expedition 60.

Inside the Opera House, climb the stairs on the right in the first room for a Colour of Lumina. Go deeper into the building and climb onto the stage. Activate Expedition Flag: Opera House on the left, then look right in front of a closed door for Record – Lumière.

Exit through the broken wall and grapple across the gaps. You’ll reach a bigger area with a looped path, take the left path first.
Kill the first enemy group ahead, then grab the Resplendent Chroma Catalyst on the left beside the lone building. Continue along the left path, kill the patrolling enemies, and look right for Pictos – Healing Stun.

Keep following the path. Ignore the grapple point on the left for now and turn right. Kill the Aberration and Orphelin group and collect the Colour of Lumina they were guarding. If Monoco is in your party, he gets the Orphelin Cheers skill, a solid support ability.
One more enemy group at the end of the loop rewards you with Monoco Weapon – Ballaro and either Pictos – Healing Stun or Chroma x1,520 if you already have that Pictos.

Now head to the grapple point you skipped earlier and zip across. Immediately turn left for a Colour of Lumina. Continue along the path and talk to the Young Boy when you find him. He’s appeared throughout the journey, don’t skip the conversation.
From his location, turn right and go around the corner to find a Paint Spike. Destroy it for Chroma x4,900. Return to the main path and grapple the next gap.

Landing on the other side, immediately look left for a Resplendent Chroma Catalyst. A bit further along, look left behind some crates for Chroma x2,450.
Keep going to find Cribappa, a Gestral Merchant selling high-level weapons: Lune Weapon – Potierim (Lv16), Maelle Weapon – Volesterum (Lv16), Monoco Weapon – Ballaro (Lv16), Verso Weapon – Gaulteram (Lv16), and Sciel Weapon – Sadon (Lv16). Defeat him in combat to unlock Pictos – Full Strength.
Continue forward and activate Expedition Flag: Lumière’s Gardens.
Lumière’s Gardens

After the flag, take the first left turn and go to the end, there’s a statue of a Clair Obscur with a Recoat at its base. Follow the main path and check the benches on the right for another Recoat.
Head back toward the flag and find the side stairs. With your back to the flag, take the left stairs first.
Left Garden Area

At the bottom, look left for a Colour of Lumina. Go around the large boulder blocking the arch ahead, you can’t move it, just walk around it. Two Aberrations spawn, kill them, then climb the stairs on the left for Pictos – Gradient Fighter.

Go back down and proceed through the left arch. Find the statue in the middle of the garden on the right, there’s a Recoat behind it. Continue along the path. Three Aberrations spawn on the left, kill them, and grab the Colour of Lumina they were guarding.
Right Garden Area

Cross to the other side and take the right stairs down. At the bottom, look left at the fallen statue for a Recoat. Defeat the nearby enemies and look for Chroma x2,450 on the platform behind them.

Head back down and follow the arch left. Climb the stairs on the left for Chroma x2,450. Continue along the left arch, kill the spawned Aberrations, and check the fallen statue in the garden ahead for a Colour of Lumina.
Boss: Création

Before this fight, make sure Verso has both Burden and Purification equipped. The boss applies Inverted at the start of the battle, which turns all healing into damage, a death sentence if left unchecked.
Burden pulls all debuffs from your allies onto Verso, and Purification wipes them clean. Alternatively, Energising Cleanse Pictos converts the debuff into AP instead.

The Aberrations fighting alongside the boss apply Blight and Burn on hit. Combined with Inverted, this can wipe your party in just a few turns. Kill the Aberrations first. The boss itself is resistant to Light but can be Burned, so stack that throughout the fight.
Phase 1 attacks — ground phase:
- Kick — the boss spins and kicks with its hind legs. The moment it starts turning, get ready to parry immediately.
- Tail Swipe — a 3-hit spinning combo: clockwise twice, then counterclockwise once. Parry each hit just after the brief slow-motion windup.
- Melee Combo — leaps forward into a 3-hit combo, short pause, then two powerful head slams. The slams have a visible windup, giving you time to parry.

At around 50% health, the Création takes to the air and summons three Void Orbs and six shields. Inverted gets reapplied here. One Void Orb detonates at the start of each of the boss’s turns, then it uses one of two patterns:
- Flying Combo — six strikes starting with two head slashes, then a sweeping tail attack, another tail sweep into a head strike, and ending with a lethal blow. Use a Jump Counter to avoid the tail sweep and a Gradient Counter for the final hit.
- Projectile Combo — three projectiles fired at random party members. Watch the direction the head turns to time your dodges or parries.
Rewards: Pictos – Faster than Strong + Resplendent Chroma Catalyst

After the fight, climb the first set of stairs and look right for Chroma x2,450. Continue and speak with the Young Boy again. Activate Expedition Flag: Crooked Tower Walkway beside him.
This is the last Expedition Flag in the main story. Upgrade everything! Attributes, skills, weapons, and Lumina Points, before proceeding. There’s no turning back after this.
Final Boss: Renoir
Follow the only path forward from the flag. Renoir is waiting at the end. Approach him for the final cutscene and the last battle.
Renoir has no elemental weaknesses, but he can be affected by Burn, Slow, and Defenseless. Stack all three throughout the fight to maximize damage. This is a long, multi-phase fight, go in fully prepared.
Phase 1:

- Combo Attack — winds up for two brush swipes, leaps forward into two quick sword slashes, then a final overhead slash after a brief pause. Void
- Cross — paints a glowing cross that fires a forward slash after a short delay.
- Brush Attack — a wide side swipe you must jump over, followed by a heavy ground slam.
- Black Hole — summons a black hole above himself that can be countered. Time your counter right as the black hole begins to shrink.
When his health drops below 50%, he summons the Axons for help. The Visages immediately give Renoir 5 shields — use Maelle’s Breaking Rules to strip them fast.
Phase 2:

When Renoir hits 1% health, the Sirene rescues him and fully restores his health. Phase 2 begins.
- Frenzied Assault — 3 windup attacks, then 4 rapid slashes, ending with a spinning Gradient strike.
- Swift Combo — winds up for a 2-hit combo, two quick slashes, then another 2-hit combo.
- Void Meteors — 5 meteors fall in sequence, all parriable with consistent timing.
- Pool of Darkness — leaps into the air and charges a ground slam creating two shockwaves. Watch for the brief energy-gathering animation, that’s your parry cue.

At 50% health in Phase 2, Renoir flies around the area and unleashes a devastating sequence: flies left and swipes right → immediately swipes back left → launches a Chroma Meteor → ground slam. Time your parries as the Chroma glows before each hit.
When he hits 1% again, a final spectacular scene plays. That’s it, you’ve defeated the final boss.
The Ending Choice
After the cutscenes, you find yourself in a new area where the Young Boy is hunched over a canvas. Approach him and choose “It’s time to stop painting.”

Verso and Maelle have a conversation, then you face the most important decision in the game.
- Choose Verso — you fight as Verso against Maelle and get the “A Life to Love” ending.
- Choose Maelle — you fight as Maelle against Verso and get the “A Life to Paint” ending.
After the credits roll, you can reload your save from Expedition Flag: Crooked Tower Walkway to see the other ending, finish any remaining optional bosses, hunt down all the Mimes, and reach 100% completion.
Congratulations! You’ve completed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
With the main story done, you can explore the Verso’s Draft DLC.
