After finishing Esquie’s Nest, you unlock a new traversal ability. Press Square to transform into Esquie, letting you move faster and cross spiky rock terrain that was previously blocking your path. Most of this chapter is open exploration across the Continent before you head into the next main area.

Leaving Esquie’s Nest, hug the left wall to find the first spiky rock terrain. Cross it as Esquie to reach a small camp with Chroma x1,305 and a Colour of Lumina nearby.

This area also has a portal to Twilight Quarry, a small optional zone. Head in and grab the Un 33 Decembre a Lumiere Music Record, it’s quick and easy.

Next, go back to where you first found Flying Waters. Look east of the Flying Waters portal for another spiky rock with a floating building behind it. Cross it to find a portal leading to Ancient Gestral City. Grab the Lights of the Past Music Record inside. Near the portal is another small camp with a Colour of Lumina.

Head to the entrance of the Ancient Sanctuary and go west. Just north of Gestral Beach, there’s another spiky rock. Cross it to find the entrance to Yellow Harvest, an optional area with a Mime, two optional bosses, and good loot. It’s too difficult to tackle right now, so just mark the location and come back later.

From the Yellow Harvest portal, turn right and destroy the spiky rocks ahead. There’s a Field Boss here, ignore it for now. Turn left instead and look for more spiky rocks to destroy for Journal – Expedition 62.
Head east and destroy another set of spiky rocks to get Pictos – Energising Start I. Right across from it is Jumeliba, a Gestral Merchant selling the Charming and Curly haircuts for Gustave.
Ultimate Sakapatate (Side Quest — Don’t Skip)

Before going to Stone Wave Cliffs, there’s a missable side quest here worth completing if you want the full outfit collection.
Go back to Gestral Village and give the Blue Mushroom (from Esquie’s Nest) to Karatom.
This starts a solo fight as Gustave against his Ultimate Sakapatate. The fight takes a while because of its large health pool, but if you nail the parry timing and remember when to jump, it’s manageable. Beating it rewards you with Gustave’s exclusive “Pure” outfit.
This outfit is permanently missable. You must finish this quest before completing Stone Wave Cliffs, or you lose access to it.
Heading to Stone Wave Cliffs

From Esquie’s Nest, head north to an area blocked by spiky rocks. Cross through and immediately look left for Chroma x1,305 at a small camp. The portal to Stone Wave Cliffs is up on the left, but take the right path first.
Optional Bourgeon Boss Battle

The right path leads to an optional Bourgeon boss fight. It’s a tough fight, the boss uses similar tactics to ones you’ve seen, but brings extra allies. It’s worth doing.
Rewards are Gustave Weapon – Gaulteram (Level 8), Weapon – Abyssram (Level 8), Pictos – Augmented Counter I, Bourgeon Skin, and a Polished Chroma Catalyst.

After the fight, keep going along the path. On the right is a Lost Gestral. At the far end of the dead-end is Pictos – Healing Parry, a strong Pictos for Sciel and eventually a useful Lumina upgrade for the whole party.
The Camp

When you approach Stone Wave Cliffs, your party stops and suggests resting at camp first. This triggers a few story beats, a cutscene from Maelle’s Nightmare that adds context to her character, and a conversation between Gustave and Maelle that develops their relationship.

The camp also introduces a new Gestral named Sastro. He looks after the Lost Gestrals you’ve been finding and tells you there are nine of them scattered across the world. For each one you find and send to camp, Sastro gives you a reward. If you’ve already found two Lost Gestrals, talk to him now to receive Maelle Haircut – Gestral and Lune Haircut – Gestral.
When you’re ready, interact with the campfire and choose “Go to sleep” to move on to Stone Wave Cliffs.
