Since you just finished the Flying Waters area, you need to get to the Ancient Sanctuary. There is a bit to explore before you head inside, so here is everything you need to know.
Exiting Flying Waters
After the fight with Goblu, a cutscene plays and sets up what comes next. When it ends, you will be in a new area. You need to find a portal so just follow the path, go slightly left, and you will see it. Don’t worry, the path is linear here, so keep walking. Walk through the portal, and the “Maelle’s Nightmare” cutscene will play.
After the scene, Maelle and Gustave have a short conversation. Gustave tells Maelle to run if death gets close to her. When the cutscene ends, you are back at camp.

Walk over to the Curator and interact with him. He gives you two options.
- The first is Upgrade Weapons. You use Chroma Catalysts here. Upgrading raises attack power, improves attribute scaling, and can unlock new passive effects at certain rarity levels.
- The second is Upgrade Expedition Resources. This is where you spend Colour of Lumina to add Lumina points to your characters. There is no cap on how many points a character can have.
For now, upgrade the Shape of Health to improve your Healing Tint, then add a Lumina point to any character. You will earn the Bronze Trophy “Lumina” for doing this.

After upgrading, head to the campfire in the middle of camp and interact with it. You will get four options:
- Check up on the others — Starts a short scene with Lune
- Go to sleep — Moves you to the next area
- Remember the current objective — Reminds you that your goal is to find the Gestral Village inside the Ancient Sanctuary to find a way to cross the sea
- Write in the journal of Gustave’s apprentice — Short scene of Gustave writing
Pick “Check up on the others” first to see the scene with Lune and unlock the Bronze Trophy “Curious.” When you are ready, choose “Go to sleep” to continue. You will land back on the world map.

Finding Your Way Around
Right after you leave Flying Waters, three enemies are waiting right in front of you – a Bruler, a Luster, and a Portier. They are easy to beat, and defeating them gets you a weapon upgrade for Brulerum. Behind them, to the left, is the entrance to the Ancient Sanctuary, but do not go in yet, as there is a lot to explore in this area.

Let’s take the right path first. After you take a few steps, you will find a Lost Gestral standing on the path. You can just interact with it and follow the dialogue. Just behind it is the entrance portal to Esquie’s Nest. Leave it for now and come back later.

Now get back to the main path, and from here keep moving north. Soon you will come across a right turn, and you will reach a small beach to find a merchant named Carrabi. He sells three things: the Lumiere Suit Outfit for Gustave for 1,000 Chroma, the Lumiere Outfit for Maelle for 1,000 Chroma, and a Short Haircut for Gustave for 500 Chroma. Buy what you want and move on.

From Carrabi, head west until you reach a group of three enemies — a Cruler, a Lancelier, and a Demineur. Beating them gives you weapon upgrades for Lanceram and Cruleram. After the fight, grab the Colour of Lumina sitting nearby.

Keep going west, and you will come across Chromatic Bruler. It is an optional boss but a tough one, so make sure you are ready before starting the fight. It is weak to Fire, so use that to your advantage. Winning gives you a Powerful Revive, five Colour of Lumina, two Polished Chroma Catalysts, and 3,113 Chroma XP. In the small camp just behind where it was standing, you can also find 1,775 Chroma and another Colour of Lumina.

Now take the left path in front of the Ancient Sanctuary entrance. On the way down, you will find a panel that lets you build a shortcut bridge — activate it so you can use it later. Near the Small Burgeon, another group of enemies will appear: a Lancelier, an Abbest, and a Luster. Beat them to get weapon upgrades for Lighterim and Lanceram.

Entering the Ancient Sanctuary
Once you have explored everything, head northwest toward the large cluster of red trees. The entrance to the Ancient Sanctuary is the portal sitting between them. Walk through to continue.
