The Bow is one of the highest DPS weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, and it can even surpass the damage of weapons like Greatswords and Charge Blades. However, achieving that requires the best skills to enhance your Bow’s damage. In this guide, you will find the best Bow builds in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Bow Gameplay and Combo

Stamina management is the single most important consideration when playing Bow, as virtually every attack drains stamina rapidly. Constitution and Stamina Surge are mandatory skills for any Bow build as a result.
Discerning Dodge
The new Discerning Dodge mechanic is what makes Bow so exciting in Wilds. Perfectly timing a Side Step as a monster hits you or roars activates Discerning Dodge, regenerating both your stamina and coating meter. Mastering this move is essential for aggressive play and maximizing DPS.
Power Shot Combo
This is your primary and most optimal combat loop.
- Apply your coating and charge to maximum, then follow up with Power Shot into Power Volley.
- Sidestep and repeat the Power Shot and Power Volley sequence, continuing until your stamina runs low.
- When stamina gets low, use Focus Strike on a wound to simultaneously recover stamina and deal bonus damage, then restart the loop.
For advanced players, timing your dodge precisely as a monster attacks triggers Discerning Dodge for extra stamina recovery.
You can also speed up Power Shot by pressing Circle immediately after an R2 that follows a dodge, just be mindful of the timing, as pressing Circle too quickly will result in the wrong move.
Dragon Piercer Spam
This is a strong alternative approach for specific situations. Use the fast Dragon Piercer (Triangle + Circle) after shots or dodges during regular combat. When the monster is knocked down, switch to the slow Dragon Piercer for maximum damage output.
For back-to-back damage, use Hailstorm Shot (R1 in Focus Mode) without locking onto wounds, then immediately follow up with a full Dragon Piercer. Use Flying Swallow Shot to reposition and stay within range as needed.
For best results, aim across the wings or along the full length of the monster from head to tail. Since Dragon Piercer leaves you vulnerable, bringing your Palico, hunting with others, or using Flash Bombs as distractions is strongly recommended.
The Power Shot combo is the more consistent option overall, but both approaches are equally valid depending on the situation and your preferred playstyle.
Low Rank Bow Build & Progression

Low Rank can feel a bit slow for Bow users, as the most essential skills aren’t available right away. Patience is key during this phase.
Once you have defeated Rey Dau and Guardian Rathalos, craft their armor sets to gain access to Constitution and Weakness Exploit, two skills that immediately improve your comfort and damage output.
Start with the Quematrice Arco I as your first weapon upgrade, as its crafting materials are easy to obtain early on. From there, upgrade to the Scylla Fist I for improved affinity. This progression will carry you comfortably through early High Rank content.
Best Bows for Low Rank
- Scylla Fist I
- Rey Perkonis I
- Nihil Bow I
Early High Rank Bow Build & Progression

High Rank is where Bow really starts to come together. Yian Kut-Ku is one of the first monsters you’ll encounter, and its armor is excellent for Bow progression. Craft the Helm, Braces, and Greaves immediately to gain valuable Constitution levels.
As you progress further, Gypceros armor provides Stamina Surge, a perfect skill for Bow users. Craft the Mail and Coil to complete this mixed set, which will carry you comfortably through to late High Rank.
Upgrading the Scylla Fist to Level II is a solid choice for early to mid High Rank. As you progress further, consider switching to one of these strong elemental options depending on the monsters you are hunting: Prominence Bow I, Windbrace Bow II, Rey Perkonis II, or Nihil Bow II.
Best Bows for Early High Rank
- Scylla Fist II
- Prominence Bow I
- Windbrace Bow II
- Rey Perkonis II
- Nihil Bow II
Best High Rank to Endgame Bow Builds
These builds are the best options to carry you from the end of the story quests and help increase your HR until you reach true endgame monsters, such as arch-tempered dragons and Gogmazios.
Regios Adrenaline Rush Bow Build

This is the best late High Rank aggressive Bow build currently available, designed for players who consistently nail Discerning Dodge timing to keep Adrenaline Rush active as much as possible. The 4-piece Seregios set bonus further extends Adrenaline Rush uptime while adding a bonus Attack boost on top.
Adrenaline Rush, Weakness Exploit, Constitution, and Agitator form the essential skill foundation of this build, collectively improving both comfort and damage output throughout hunts.
For the Artian Bow, use full Attack infusion with full Attack reinforcement for maximum raw damage output.
Gore Bow Build

This build swaps Adrenaline Rush for Black Eclipse as the primary Affinity-boosting skill, offering a strong alternative for players who prefer a more consistent damage approach over the timing-dependent Adrenaline Rush playstyle.
Both this build and the previous Adrenaline Rush build deliver comparable overall damage output, the choice ultimately comes down to which playstyle suits you best.
Best Endgame Bow Builds in MH Wilds
The builds below are the best options for Bow for endgame content in the latest update. Choose the one that best fits your playstyle.
Endgame Burst Gore Bow Build

This is currently one of the highest raw damage builds available for Bow, centered around Black Eclipse, Burst Boost, and Bad Blood, all three working together to push Attack to its absolute peak.
The Gogmartian Bow must have Gore Magala’s Tyranny active to trigger Black Eclipse, a non-negotiable requirement for this build. Use full Attack infusion with full Attack reinforcement for maximum damage output.
The ideal charm roll is Attack Boost Level 3 paired with Adrenaline Rush. If charm farming feels too time-consuming, the Challenger Charm is a reliable and straightforward alternative that still performs well within this build.
Endgame Gogma Elemental Bow Build

For players who want to maximize elemental damage output, this build is the strongest option currently available for Bow. It leverages Black Eclipse and Mutual Hostility from the 2-piece Gogmazios armor set as its core damage mechanics.
Full Elemental Attack jewels, Burst, and Coalescence all stack together to push elemental damage to its highest possible levels, making this build particularly devastating against monsters with a high elemental weakness.
The same Gogmartian Bow setup applies here, full Attack infusion with full Attack reinforcement, and Gore Magala’s Tyranny must be active to trigger Black Eclipse.
This build is best reserved specifically for hunting monsters with a strong elemental weakness.
Endgame Comfort Scorcher Bow Build

This build incorporates the new Arkvulcan Helm Y from Arch-Tempered Arkveld into a well-rounded setup that excels in both offense and defense.
The 4-piece Gogmazios set bonus activates Mutual Hostility 2, which boosts elemental attack while also providing a passive damage-negating barrier when active, a strong defensive tool against hard-hitting monsters. On the offensive side, Scorcher serves as the primary damage skill, currently one of the strongest meta choices available.
The Gogmartian Bow must have Gogmapocalypse active as its skill to trigger Mutual Hostility 2, this is mandatory for the build to function correctly.
The ideal charm is Attack Boost Level 3 paired with Adrenaline Rush Level 1. If that combination proves too difficult to farm, the Challenger Charm is a perfectly viable alternative that still works well within this build.
Currently, these are the best Bow builds in Monster Hunter Wilds as of the latest update (TU 4). This page will be updated as new meta builds emerge in future updates.
